  • Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion bytes (one quintillion bytes = one billion gigabytes). of data? so much that 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone. This data comes from everywhere: sensors used to gather climate information, posts to social media sites, digital pictures and videos, purchase transaction records, and cell phone GPS signals to name a few. This data is big data. big data offers a wide range of sectors where it can be implemented such as financial markets, call centres, IT sectors, any big organisations, industries, government sectors, defence, medical and so on. This paper is based upon the introduction to Big Data, Importance of Big Data, Types of Big Data, their characteristics, Applications, Advantages and Disadvantages. Finally, we shall conclude by looking what future holds for Big data.
